Mila Kunis - Oscars, February 27th 2011

I do love a dark haired girl in a pale shade. Mila looks like a classy sexpot, which is also how I like my ladies! We can’t seem to place the designer. Does anyone recognize it? I’ll try to update the post with the designers as I discover them.

“Uh, well, I’m speechless now. Well, Thank you life, thank you love. And uh, it is true there is some angels in this city!”

I love her English. I love her so, so much! I cry every time I see this. Literally.

Nicole Kidman accepting her Best Actress Oscar for The Hours, March 23rd 2003

This remains my favourite Oscar moment of the past decade. I love when she says Russell Crowe told her not to cry, I love when she turns around, so beautifully overwhelmed, & shows us her elegant neck, her speech was so lovely, sweet & sincere & her win so very well deserved. Perfect. And even more perfect, Nicole draped in that sheer rich black Gaultier gown. Winning awards & looking like a fierce fashion warrior while doing so, that’s my girl!

Kate Winslet accepting her Best Actress Oscar for The Reader, February 22nd 2009

I did not care for Kate’s Atelier Yves Saint Laurent gown, while there was nothing technically wrong with the look, I just thought she could have gone more dynamic - she’s Kate Winslet for goodness sake! What I did care for is Kate finally taking home a well deserved award after 6 nominations (Kate has been nominated twice for best supporting actress: in 1996 for Sense and Sensibility & 2002 for Iris, as well as 4 times for best lead actress: in 1998 for Titanic, 2005 for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2007 for Little Children & finally 2009 for The Reader). Kate has delivered such iconic, powerful, moving performances, it was such a treat to finally see her win.

Recently divorced & also recently celebrated for her awe-inspiring role in Moulin Rouge, Nicole arrived at the 2002 Oscars as a sweet, light-hearted beauty in this pale pink Chanel gown & a 4 million dollar Bulgari necklace that she helped design composed of 241 carets of raw diamonds. Bad ass!

Naomi in Versace! Nicole in Chanel! They look like shimmering mer-ladies, appearing on dry land for one evening, to entice & seduce us with their slim graceful beauty. Not only do they look like they chose their outfits based on how pretty their gowns would look next to each other while their hands entangled, but Nicole’s gown has always made me tilt my head in happy curious wonderment while attempting to figure out how it’s staying in place. Magic, that’s how!

I think this is one of the most iconic Oscar images that exists. Michelle in that feminine yet bold canary yellow Vera Wang gown with the classic red lips & soft waves in her hair, she looked so sweet, so ethereal. It’s such a beautiful, natural pose they’re striking & they both look so happy & smitten. It makes my chest ache.
